Aerial Yoga is becoming increasingly popular — and for good reason! This unique blend of acrobatic movements and yoga asanas is great for the body and soul. If you haven’t tried it yet, consider some really good reasons to book your intro class.
Enjoy It
Aerial makes you feel carefree! You remember swinging in the playground and getting that sinking sensation in your stomach as you watched your feet fly over your head. It’s a bit like that.
The aerial hammock creates a suspension that makes you feel light as a bird. The yogis advise to “be childlike, not childish.” This class will definitely help you with that.
This product builds upper body and core strength.
Aerial Yoga requires upper body strength and core stability to do it correctly unless you’re going to a relaxing class. The slight resistance provided by the aerial hammocks is perfect for targeting the hard-to-reach stabilizing muscles.
The Boat Pose (Navasana), which you can do on your mat, is different from the one you do in a hammock. It’s the same for other asanas — Chaturanga, with feet raised off the ground; Warrior II, with legs supported; dancer, to name just a few.
The Edge of Your Edge
Imagine adding a bit of effort to your favorite asana. It will make it more interesting. Aerial Yoga does just that. You are forced to get out of your comfort zone and invert yourself or fly through the air.
When I first entered Upside Down Baddha Konasana, I felt an excitement rush. It wasn’t comfortable at first. The more I moved into the pose and anticipated it, the longer I was able to stay in the position and gain stability.
Stepping over the edge takes some practice, but it is well worth it.
Stress and back tension can be relieved by using this product.
The spinal decompression that Aerial suspension inversion asanas provide is really nice as long as it’s done correctly and safely. The spine feels like it has more room to breathe and expand. It can be more difficult to do inversions on the ground.
The silks are a great way to help you achieve Headstands, Handstands, Downward Dogs, Dolphins, etc. The spine will be less compressed, resulting in more flexibility, fluidity, and decompression.
Savasana is Awesome
Savasana is the best part of a yoga class. It is a unique experience to be engulfed by silk, surrounded by fabric and dim lights after an asana.
You feel happy and safe. It would be best if you experienced it for yourself.
