Yoga Positions for Dummies

If you are just making your grand entry to the yoga for the first time, you will discover that there are various yoga positions that you should be familiar with.

The asanas –as they are called-start off with easy cross leg. Basically, you strike this pose when the legs cross each other at the lower part of the calves. Then the hands rest on the knees. You will start a number of exercises such as arching the back whilst breathing in and out. If you repeat this number of times a day, you will be surprised at how effective it will be in relieving of your back pain.

Tree pose

If you are seeking balance in your body, you will be very much at home with the tree pose. It is aimed at bringing balance in your body and in an extension, to your life. It is simple as all you need to do is to lift one of your legs while in a standing position and bring it on the inner thigh of the other leg. Then you clasp your hands in a prayer position whilst maintaining that pose for while. You can interchange them and repeat the process till you find that you are getting a sense of balance.

Downward facing dog

If you are looking for flexibility, you will probably find it in one of the yoga positions that is highly recommended for flexibility. This has got to be the downward facing dog.literally; you will look like a dog that is facing downwards. You will bend on a mat and with the legs close to one another but straight, lift you but up and support your bended lower body with your hands on either side of your head. In other words, make sure that the hands are over the shoulders but the shoulders should be in a relaxed mode. You will count up to ten as you inhale and exhale. You will be impressed by the progress that you will have made.

Child’s pose

This is whereby the butt rests on heels in a sitting position while the rest of the body is outstretched. This is for relaxation and is highly recommended pose.
