We all have those days where we wake up unable to fathom how we’re going to move through the day smoothly…let alone practice yoga. Starting the day feeling like a sack of potatoes can be challenging, but it happens to the best of us.
We are lucky to have Lazy Day Yoga! Turning your daily tasks into yoga movements is easy to do! Here are some ideas on how to do it.
Savasana
Start in Savasana if you are having a hard time committing to your practice. Imagine that you are taking a 5-minute nap. This can be done from your bed in the early morning before you wake up!
Bananaasana
This Yin Yoga is for lazy yogis who still want to stretch. You need to reach your arms over your head and pull your left hand to the right. Then, cross your left foot over the right. This one can be done in bed and feels great!
Twist Reclined
Curl your legs to one side and let your arms hang to the opposite side. Allow the weight of your shoulders to open you. It’s super easy and requires very little energy!
Legs up the Wall
Feel the relief wash over you as you throw your legs against the nearest wall while still lying on your back. There’s no need to move unless you want a little cushion under your tush.
Warrior 1/ High Lunge
While you walk, take longer strides than usual. While walking around your house, stop with your front leg bent. If the feeling increases, you can even raise your arms over your head. It’s okay to take your time. This is not a race. Breathe. Put one foot in front.
Humble Warrior
Please take a deep bend in your front knee when it’s time for you to tie the shoelaces. While you bend forward and tie the shoe laces on your front foot, keep your shoulders in Warrior.
Lizard Pose
Place your hands under your shoulders when you have finished tying the shoes. Then, pause in Lizard and continue to secure the second shoe.
Rag Doll
You want to pick up something from the floor. Hang out in Rag Doll for as long as you like, swinging your legs and dangling from your hips.
Breathe
Sit and breathe for 10 minutes when you feel lazy. Listen to your breath and smooth it out.
Dandasana seated
As you sit up, let your arms fall to your sides. Ta-da. You’re now doing yoga.
Seated Fish Pose
If you’ve been sitting for some time in your car or office and need to stretch or yawn – squeeze your shoulder blades and puff your chest out for a seated fish pose.
You’re done! To see–even the laziest, don’t-want-to-get-out-of-bed days can be yoga days. Let me know what you think!
