Wanting to push snooze after a full night of sleep, feeling overwhelmed and irritable, experiencing body discomfort and joint pain, and feelings of mental and physical exhaustion — these are all signs of fatigue.
WebMD’s Year in Health 2010 survey ranked fatigue as one of the five most important health concerns in 2010. Stress can be physical, psychological, or social.
Instead of reaching for the candy dish or a triple-shot espresso, try this yoga sequence to ignite the internal fire and boost your energy instantly.
Breath of fire – Kapalbhati Pranayama
Kapalbhati is translated from Sanskrit as “skull illumination” and is an intense breathing exercise that increases the rate of breath through forceful exhales.
It is common to hiss during exhalations. You can imagine all the tension and fatigue leaving your body as you hiss. This increased breathing rate is linked to an increased metabolism and better respiratory flow.
Even if you only do it for five minutes, the energy boost is immediate.
The Warrior Poses
The Warrior pose is called Virabhadrasana. This Sanskrit word translates to “hero-friend pose.” Its namesake, Virabhadra, is Shiva’s supreme creator, a warrior who is fierce and fierce.
The series is a blazing entry of Virabhadra with both swords in his hands. Warrior II represents his preparation posture with his gaze fixed on his opponent, and Warrior 3 is his quick and precise attack. The series ignites the inner warrior, which channels concentration, passion, and devotion.
Half Lord of Fishes Pose (Ardha Matsyendrasana)
It can die out if you don’t tend to it. The body’s natural response to contracture (the shortening and hardening of muscles, tendons, or other tissues) can be a hindrance for those who work at a desk or sit still for long periods.
Unblocking the body is easier when you release tension in your hips, neck, and shoulders. The body is stimulated, and energy levels are immediately boosted.
Wheel Pose – Chakrasana
In Sanskrit the word chakra can be translated as wheel or disk, which refers to the energy wheels in the body. There are 114 different chakras within the human body. However, the focus is usually on the seven major chakras, which align from the base of the spine to the top of the head.
The chakras can become out of balance, and the energy flow can be congested. Wheel pose encourages strength, stretch, and heart opening in order to energize the body and release tension. Wheel Pose also helps to release stress by squeezing the small adrenal glands on top of the kidneys.
